Holiday 2012 is set to be the season of
sophistication! The Fall bridal runways were electric with pops of
cool white and jewel-tone colors, elaborate head pieces, as well as
the return of sleek hair styles and the use of braids. I for one, am
excited to see a shift in hair trends moving away from 'un-done'
styles towards a more polished and refined look. So let's take a look
at what you can expect and how you can incorporate these looks into
your big day.
The return of WHITE
The last few years have been filled
with warmer tones such as beige, gold, and blush- in both dresses and
accessories. But Winter 2012 is the start of a shift back towards the
classic cool white. We will see white lace and feathers paired with
silver and diamond accents in hair accessories and veils. These
formal pairings work great with sleek hair styles such as the top
knot, french twist, or finger waves. The overall look is very
sophisticated and works for the 'winter wonderland' type wedding
theme. Can't you just see the snow falling in the background?
Jewel-tones worth talking about
Pops of color were everywhere on the
runways this Fall- and the overall color palette was rich and deep.
Try adding colors such as deep red, teal, amethyst, and even black to
your color scheme. It's unexpected but ubber luxurious looking when
these saturated colors are paired with crisp white. The headpieces,
such as the one pictured, are breathtaking to say the least, and work
best with very simple hair styles. I suggest a polished pony tail or
low chignon, so the look reads very editorial and not too over done.
These head pieces photograph so well- and a picture is worth a
thousand words! Not quite so bold? Try incorporating a deep red or
berry lipstick instead.
Braids, Braids, Braids
We just can't seem to get enough
braiding these days- and the bridal world has taken to the trend as
well. A braided bun adds loads of interest and texture to an updo and
works with a more casual daytime wedding, as well as an evening
event- it all depends on the accessories you partner with it. Several
designers this season chose oversized braids cascading down one side
or straight down the back. To achieve this look, consider adding in
some extra hair to get the desired thickness and length. I usually
suggest using 18-inch extensions sewn into a weft that can be pinned
in at the nape of the neck and then braided into the design, for
added oomph that is easily removed when the event s over.
Cheers to a sophisticated winter bridal
season!
